2009 Vacation Day 3 - Amazing Site

So we pulled out today and headed for Newport NH. Got all hitched up again, with the help of super keener John...he eats this stuff up. Lots of good pointers also...especially for Dale on how not to get run over when helping with trailer guiding. Dale seemed to be all ears...

Took a real scenic route through Vermont and NH...just a beautiful area...we seemed to drive right down this valley, between two very large hills...throw in a babbling brook along one side of the road and you have a real purdy picture...As many scenic looking sights that there were...there were twice as many depressed looking sights. Ramshackle single wides with numerous dicrepid vehicles of all sorts, massive barns that are just waiting for the right wind to fall over. You start to wonder when you are roaming around in what seems to be the middle of nowhere...were do these people work...do they work...how far do you have to go just to get a quart of milk. Some places look like generations have lived there...that this homestead is simply where they live...and always will.

But some do have the time to put these up a pole...

Pulled into our site at Northstar Campgrounds, near Newport NH. Pretty much deserted except for a few seasonals...outside fridges etc, and a couple of other travellers. Now that has got to be a tough go of it...they have this amazing site, well kept up, but because they are a little off the beaten path, they don't get the traffic. We got a FABULOUS site that backed onto a little river called Sugar...totally amazing. The sound of the running water was very relaxing and serene.

Got settled in, we are quickly becoming old pros at getting unhitched, leveled and settled in. Backing the thing up...I'm taking to it like a duck to water...

Falling asleep to the sound of the little river was wonderful...
