And that will be who we are as we head to Newfoundland.
Taking our time and moving slow...our goals for this trip. Too often we have moved too fast. Set up camp, break camp, repeat. Not this time. Lots of time baked in to explore and soak in the unique quirky vibes of NFLD.
Made our way east, first couple of days just chewing up the miles. Nice campground on the St. Lawrence at L’Islet sur Mer, with the added bonus of seeing the community St. Jean Baptiste celebrations, including music, a bonfire and fireworks.

From there we stayed at one of the nicest private campgrounds ever, Sunset View Resort, in Nackawic NB. Super clean and organized, with a lovely view overlooking the Saint John River. Great place!

A unique tasty sandwich satisfied a lunchtime hunger.
We stopped in Mulgrave NS, where Dale’s Mom is from. Dale found the headstone of her Grandparents.
She also made another interesting little discovery.

| Could Dale be named after a street in Mulgrave??? |
Stopped in Saint John for three nights to visit Dale’s Uncle Don, and her cousin Heather. Like in the past, we stay at Rockwood Campground, located in a beautiful city park overlooking downtown. Unfortunately, the campground portion has become seriously run down. Really sketch. Too bad, as the location is perfect.

Whenever we visit, Don and I make a point of taking a little excursion to explore the city, somewhat of an excuse to just hang out and shoot the shit. This time we did breakfast, and for being 91 years young, he remains current and sharp as a tack. Great conversations always. Later for dinner, he took us all to his favourite restaurant, a small family owned place on the Bay of Fundy, which served up some awesome fish dinners. What a treat.

We then spent one night in the driveway at Heather and Steven’s home on the Saint John River. They took us around the area to the local Farmers Market, and a recently opened Cidery. We made yet another fish dinner, and enjoyed it on the deck overlooking the river. A nice visit all around.

Headed to Caribou Monroe’s Provincial Park, along the way to our ferry to NFLD in North Sydney. A nice park, and had a great site with a view of the ocean. Walked the beach, quick bite to eat, then had a good sleep.

Drove up the Trans Can right up the middle of Cape Breton, an awesome tour along the Bras d’Or Lakes. Rolled onto a massive ferry over to Port Aux Basques, NFLD. We booked a pet friendly cabin for the overnight trip, and it worked out perfectly.

We lucked out on great weather which made for a smooth sail. Our neighbours in the cabin beside us must have been hamsters in a past life as they never seemed to stop moving all night...seriously annoying. Arrived first thing in the morning, relatively fresh and rested for the next part of our adventure.
