2022 Trip 7: closing up

Another camping season comes to a close at Cedar Cove. Definitely a tradition now, and we were joined once again by Chris & Jen. Great spot to close up as all the sites have the three services, and it has a nice restaurant which we always enjoy.

The weather over the weekend always seemed to threaten rain, but none appeared. Certainly got cold overnight, down to 34F one morning, but the days warmed up with some sunny patches thrown in to raise the spirits.

Barley being Barley

We got in a few walks around the campground, and had some great fires to take the chill off.

hands in pockets = chilly

Saturday night we had dinner at the restaurant, the food is always good and the beer cold.

On Sunday we made ribs in the Instant Pot, and Jen prepared sides of loaded mashed potatoes, Caesar salad and corn bread. It was all really tasty…in fact, we spent a lot of time later exclaiming just how tasty it was. The Instant Pot can sure be a handy camp tool, cooking up a meal with no muss or fuss.

Monday morning was nice and sunny, which sure helped with the outdoor tasks of winterizing and closing up. We got the tanks well rinsed out, and the antifreeze through the system. A little extra diligence in this process has sure made our plumbing system worry free for thirteen seasons.

On the drive home we stopped at Wes' in Arnprior, a classic spot in the Ottawa Valley. The fries are consistently outstanding...and we are talking decades of tasting!

always a line up...they are that good

great way to end the season

Now to start thinking about next year, though I think the big Safari Condo Rally will be one of the highlights of 2023!
