2022 Trip 1: on the waterfront

First outing of the new season, back to Silver Lake,  a park that is close to home and makes a nice getaway. Snagged a fave site right on the water, our own waterfront, with the mellow ambiance of the Hwy 7 drone in the background.

Being on the water more than makes up for being so close to the highway.

Only there for a few days, and the weather starting out was fabulous. We had gone through an odd heat spell a couple of weeks back, and this warmed the water up more than enough for a couple of real nice swims…well floats actually. Cannot recall the last time we got in swimming before the end of May. Certainly off to a good start.

Barley right back into the camping vibe

Fired up the Q and cooked kabobs with grilled potatoes for dinner. Bit of a different Q setup now, finally weaned off the disposable green cans and bought a hose to attach to the pony tank we carry as a backup. The tank was getting little to no use, so now the thought is to run the Q from it, and when it goes dry, just fill it up again. This will save throwing out those cans, and a few bucks as well.

liking the Q setup

a sharp addition to the Alto kitchen

always some sort of table decoration

We went over to our friends cottage one afternoon for a visit, and had a classic meal of burgers and brats. Always fun to get together.

Our short stay became even shorter when Dale woke up on the 3rd day at 5:00am to the sound of heavy thunder and lightning. A quick check of the weather radar showed a big storm approaching. It was to be our last full day, but we decided that as it looked like a very wet and soggy one, we would pack up and head home. Outside you could just tell that it was itching to rain, so we scurried to pack up and move out. We had just turned on to the highway when the skies opened and it pounded down the rain. A slow, but safe drive home.

Great to get the new season going!
