First stop on the way home was Reed Bingham SP. We have been here before and it is a lovely park. Nice full service sites, and well maintained.
Got set up and were soon chatting with our neighbours. We were keeping an eye on the NWS radar, and had heard there was a band of storms wrecking havoc as it moved east. Sure enough, overnight tornado warnings soon were posted.
It did rain, but it was not real crazy. Checking the radar at 4:00 am we saw that our area seemed only to be on the edge of the storm. This band extended well north, and was sitting right over our planned route the next day. In the morning we decided to stay put and wait a day for the storm front to completely clear off our path.
The day turned out to be quite nice. We took a drive into the nearby town of Moultrie, and walked around the downtown. Being Sunday, in these parts most of the small shops were closed, but we did have a wonderful lunch in a great spot called Three Crazy Bakers. The Court House in the square was beautiful, as was the giant...and I mean giant, magnolia tree out front. A historic plaque stated that it was planted in 1865.

Back at the campsite we joined our neighbours and their friends for happy hour before dinner. Nice people and we had some great conversations and laughs. We so enjoy a good happy hour, especially with fellow campers.
We then had a long days drive to Lee State Park, another one night stop. A bit of deja vu as we were on the same site again, and were able to enjoy that fabulous comfort station again.

Next park was Jordan Lake Recreation Area in NC, where Dale was able to have a visit with her girlfriend Debbie. She moved to Durham for work many years ago, but her kids live in Ottawa so she gets back home a few times a year. We had a nice camp meal, and Dale and her got in a lot of chatting.

As the forecast called for much cooler temps as we moved north, we winterized the Alto before we hit the road. The last couple of nights we grabbed hotels, and glad we did as it was damn cold overnight in Watertown.

We had a good trip back, some nice parks, and some good visiting.
Unfortunate to be heading in the unplanned direction, but such is life.
When I used to spend my summers at the farm in Perth, my Uncle Clarence and Aunt Wilma’s house had a huge television antenna that brought in the signal from Watertown, New York and WWNY TV. Growing up in Sudbury with just two television channels, Watertown seemed so Cosmopolitan and hip to a nickel miner’s son and Watertown especially had great television game shows. Munro
